A two-year fast track programme trains students to become mid level hospitality managers. A vocational (Dutch “level-4”) programma allows graduates access to Higher hotel management academies.

Operating the hotel

ROC Zeeland offers a one-year course in which students gain the necessary knowledge and skills. During the second year small groups of approximately five students gain practical experience while running the day-to-day hotel operations in the College Hotel aan de Dam. This hotel is situated in Middelburg’s city centre and operates in close cooperation with the College Hotel and Catering School in Middelburg. Other students follow similar practicum training in other hotels.

Abroad

After this domestical training students will spend an internship abroad, in which period they will write their thesis (business plan). This thesis will be presented and defended at the completion of their studies.

Challenging

With this challenging fast-track course the Hotel and Catering School in Middelburg means to meet the increasing demand from HAVO schools.

Course characteristics:

• For graduated HAVO students (or similar qualifications)
• The education can be completed in 2 years
• The students will run the College Hotel aan de Dam
• An exemption of about one year when continuing the education at a Hotel Management School/Academy. Fitting answer to demands of the hospitality industry. Possibility to join the fast track programme in The Hague (requiring a more than sufficient grading)
• Hotel and Catering School Diploma,  Social Hygiene Certificate (Public Health) and Business Emergency Service Diploma
